ABOUT THE ARTIST
Dwain,
a native of Tennessee, lived and worked in Maryland at the head of the
Chesapeake Bay for 35 years. In
1966 he went to a decoy show in Salisbury on the eastern shore of Maryland.
There he saw hand carved decoys and a few decorative bird carvings
made by area artists. To
him the carvings were beautiful.
He became hooked on a new hobby, and he would carve birds whenever
he had the time. After
over forty years he is still carving birds.
Some
people say his birds look more real than real.
People seem to like his his work and folks from a wide area collect his carvings.
